So for my first post, I'm going to put up mostly bad pix of stuff I made in the last week. Man, the whole photo thing is a total pain. But I've realized I don't know when I've made anything, so at least this is a way to keep track of that.
Last Saturday (Jan. 29), I opened this package with this wonderful wild handspun yarn from coolclimates on etsy. Bluebeard, it was called, the only fairy story to truly terrify me. My mom gave me this book she had had as a child, with those sweet 40s illustrations, and told me not to read "Bluebeard". So of course I did. Horrible. Clotted blood, ex-wives hanging in the spare room, the magic key. Umm.
Anyway, I made this.
I knitted the bluebeard yarn, crocheted an edging with microfiber yarn I recently bought, and used three buttons from the stash I got from Eje (my mom). A scarflette. Weren't the wives throats slit? And who came up with the scarflette term?
I had started work on this cowl a little earlier, but I finished it on Saturday as well. Made with wool yarn I think I got from a thrift store on Greenmount and some cool handmade yarn from SpinningWheelStudio. The buttoned strap is detachable. All crocheted.
Why are these all sideways? Arghh.
And then I made, hmm, a whole lotta neck things, I think. On Tuesday (Feb. 2nd). To and from work.
First, a necklace that really didn't do what I wanted it to.
Mostly red sari fibers.
And then, crocheted from purple chenille and Colinette thin soft fuzzy stuff, I don't remember the name. Or colorway. Again, who came up with that term? It looks pretty bad in the photo, but is actually kinda neat and very cozy.
Can also be tied loosely and worn as a necklace.
Then, using the same yarns, made a tacky/fun stripper necklace. Very soft, boa like.
And I think I made this necklace before the above--sari yarn and the chenille. Like the combo.
And then finally, for Valentine's, an attempt at a heart motif. Like so. Also the red sari yarn.
Got some yarn I had ordered from Fuzzyfibers1960, so on Wednesday I made another scarflette. Well, it seems to be a good thing to do with small skeins you don't want to combine. Kinda like the 3 color messy frogs.
Yesterday, Friday the 4th, made a hat from destashed yarn originally from knittydirtygirl who seems to have vanished off the net after making tons o yarn. Added Colinette tassels.
Huge puffs of wool, some fabric scraps, also metallic. Everything and the kitchen sink.
Also made, from foresty yarn from fuzzyfibers1960, this hat.
Have done nothing today.
